Hello, Wisconsin UU's & chums!
Karen Wills here, your new coordinator for UU the Vote 2022 in Wisconsin (as of two days ago), so excited to be here and looking forward to meeting and learning from you! Thanks so much to those I've met already for the warm welcome and amazing work towards a multicultural democracy and Beloved Community.
WUUSAN, like all our UU state action networks, exists to link, amplify, grow and strengthen your justice work with one another and community partners. WUUSAN connects Wisconsin's UU congregations, big and small, with resources from the UUA organizing ecosystem. We are all part of an interdependent web of justice weavers.
This note brings links to what I'm learning about the fantastic work that UU's across the state are doing, with a taste of upcoming opportunities! By way of brief introduction, I've led MUUSJA, the Minnesota UU Social Justice Alliance for 3 years, and am just filling in during this crucial election to coordinate WUUSAN's campaign with UU the Vote. My background includes managing political campaigns & doing health care advocacy, teaching, research, and clinical practice as a pediatric neuropsychologist. As a lifelong UU, I've taught R.E. and served on racial and social justice committees in 13 congregations over my 65 years of life. I'm a daughter of gay Dads and big sister/guardian for sibs with disabilities. I'm a white Scots-Irish mom, widow, writer and gardener, with roots in Boston, Los Angeles, Iowa City & Chicago.
